he South Bend Career Academy, founded by Steve Hartz and Larry Garatoni, is currently accepting applications through April 1, 2013, for incoming 7th graders through 10th grade for the Fall of 2013. The lottery for enrollment selection will be held at 3801 Crescent Circle, South Bend, IN 46628 on April 5, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. and would like to welcome all applicants. After the lottery, enrollment will re-open after that date.
Please feel free visit the SBCA's campus during our open houses on January 26, Feburary 16, or March 16 to complete an application, talk to current staff and students, and tour the building. Open houses will be held from Noon to 2pm. Our current office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

SBCA is chartered by Ball State University. The SBCA curriculum is focused on project-based education in which students learn state and national standards in a technology rich, team centered, and 21st century skilled based environment.
The Academy opened in August 2011 with 166 students in grades seven through nine, and will grow each year until it reaches a maximum student body of 750 students, 7th through 12th grade.
On March 26&27, SBCA Challenge Day will be rolled out as a school-wide event. South Bend Career Academy is committed to providing learning opportunities that facilitate ‘real talk’ and avenues for expression that build upon people’s strengths while tearing down all walls of oppression. Target participation is the entire SBCA community, including but not limited to team members, team leaders, parents, SBCA leadership and extended community.
SBCA Challenge Day is an event that initiates an invitation or “challenge” to BE THE CHANGE you (individually or as a school) want to see in the world. The format successfully addresses some common issues seen at most schools during our school programs including cliques, gossip, rumors, negative judgments, teasing, harassment, isolation, stereotypes, intolerance, racism, sexism, bullying, violence, hopelessness, apathy, and hidden pressures to create an image, achieve or live up to the expectations of others. At the end of every SBCA Challenge Day program, all participants that fully participate will:

Read more: ASID Design Excellence AwardsHigh-speed Internet and network services are available throughout the SBCA campus, and several labs are located in various programs. When students log on to a computer, they must follow policies governing acceptable use.
Computers are for school assignments, and their use must support SBCA goals of academic success. Material stored in a student's folder must include school assignments only. Team members are strongly advised to purchase an inexpensive flash drive for storage and transport of assignments between home and school.SBCA uses software that allows them to observe and monitor students' computer work. Violators may lose network access short or long-term and may be subject to further discipline measures if they do not follow the following computer/network policies.
